Wow, this is so interesting. It touches on a topic that regular readers will likely be familiar with through the stories that we share here of doggo rescue. More often than not, it is the case that local shelters are either the type to not keep animals around for all too long in order to make space for more animals, or they are the type who are persistently full because they keep their animals around. Leading to situations like this where areas in which pet dumping is common, people leave the pets to do their thing rather than be rejected or worse. But in this case the thing this pupper was trying to do would put it in harm’s way and we totally applaud this brave hooman for stopping in high tempo traffic to save this pup’s life.

Dang, that is a toughie. Honestly, this is one of the problems we have with the way the shelter system is set up. Many of the doggos who do get placed in a shelter for stray hold get caught up in a system where even the hooman who risked everything to save them cannot adopt them or afford the associated costs. After all, you saved this dog’s life for free, or even at a loss, a task which should not really have fallen to you had there been resources to scoop up stray doggos. So at the very least it would be a nice gesture for shelters to cover costs so that a doggo gets to keep their newly found home.
